This chapter presents an essay on the need to develop a new curriculum in the U.S. that would improve the students' cultural literacy. Public precollegiate education is in disarray and despite all efforts from different concerned parties, even those students who proceed to colleges and universities seem culturally deprived. It suggests that pedagogy is hapless and empty if it does not face directly the deep and pervasive dialectic between the historical and genetic conditioning of the person and the impress of the novelties of the physical and social world.
