The chapter introduces the premise of the volume—the multidisciplinary research, teaching, and community engagement in the spirit of John Dewey that takes place in the Deptartment of Human and Organizational Development in Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. A summary of the ten chapters is provided as well as the importance of the volume for work to help transform society.
