The ASA and RSCF represent an effort within evangelicalism to overcome the antagonism between science and religion that developed in the middle decades of the twentieth century. Arguing for an evolutionary view of creation, these organizations sought to reconcile biblical and scientific views of the world in a way that affirmed the complementary perspectives of orthodox faith and modern science.
