This chapter presents the story of Hilary Howes, a public relations professional and transgender activist. She describes how she came to accept that her birth gender was not her authentic gender and her conversion to Catholicism in mid-life, in part inspired by the faith and love of her wife. Howes observes that while transgender Catholics are not as explicitly rejected by the church as are lesbian, gay, and bisexual Catholics, the absence of formal church policies on transgender individuals often renders them even more invisible.
