This chapter discusses three films—White Hunter Black Heart (1990), True Crime (1999), and Bird (1988)—from very different genres and with very different narrative lines, but with one key feature in common: they all explore the issue of race. At least two of them also connect white racism to the hubris of masculine narcissism, which does not recognize limits and therefore tends to confuse fantasy with reality.
