This chapter examines Pierre Teilhard de Chardin's view on the emergence of consciousness in biological evolution and quantum reality. There are three aspects of physical reality that provide an important framework for the vision of Teilhard de Chardin, which had no basis in the outgoing mechanistic-materialistic worldview of the science of his time. These aspects of physical reality include the nonmaterial basis of the material world, the indivisible and non-separable wholeness nature of reality and the consciousness properties of quantum entities.
