This chapter presents an essay on the dimensions of urban aesthetics. It examines the relationship of humans with the world as natural and to the world as artifact or human-made. Having bodies that are present in the world as diaphanous and permeable, only humans can interact, respond and give the world its meaning. This chapter suggests that the most dramatic and long-lasting influences on a person's coming to consciousness is their sense of space and time.
