Fordham suffered a severe drop in enrolment during WWII, which was followed by a rapid increase in enrolment after the war. The GI Bill enabled many veterans to obtain a college education. FDR visits Rose Hill. Gannon ends big-time football at Fordham. Gannon also separates the office of rector of the Jesuit community from the office of president of the university.
