The Red Mill is the next work to be carefully dissected in this book. It ran for 274 performances on Broadway on its first outing in 1906, and more than doubled that number when it was revived in 1945. There is also commentary on The Tattooed Man, The Rose of Algeria, Little Nemo, The Prima Donna, Old Dutch, Naughty Marietta, When Sweet Sixteen, The Dutchess, The Enchantress, and The Lady of the Slipper.
