It might be said that Samuel Weber made his name by writing on psychoanalysis rather than deconstruction. Texts published in MLN and Glyph devote various aspects to Freud's writing in particular. His two books on psychoanalysis brought Weber critical acclaim. And the relation between Weber and Derrida brings deconstruction and exploration most notably in the The Post Card. Different texts in The Post Card interest Derrida to retrace the strategy or scenario of “making a name” in which Freud makes for himself. In various ways across the body of his writing, Weber shows the importance the name of Freud holds for both psychoanalysis and deconstruction. Weber suggests an affinity between the necessarily fragile reductions of the entire discursive practice of psychoanalysis to the proper name of “Freud.”
